Static Website Design and Development

A static web is a site that is designed to display the same information on the browser for all web browsers. Most of the time static web pages are designed using pure Hypertext Markup Language (HTML) code and made of multiple HTML pages that are linked together. The site is stored on a web server under a flat directory structure. Most of the time when a static website has been published it will remain the same until the author of the site release a new version. Static sites are the most basic type of website and are the easiest to create and should not cost too much as they do not require any Web programming or database design experience. Static sites also should not take too long to develop and deploy.

Static sites work well with small websites (less than 20 pages); it would be very difficult to maintain a large site statically. The later scenario requires dynamic pages or sites, which can be updated using a configuration or administration interface with the support of a database. Static sites used mostly by small business to promote their products and services. Static site could also be used for personal, government, a non-profit organization or commercial web projects.

To help maintain the same look and feel for all pages in a Static sites website designers uses templates. This way we can update several pages at once, and also help provide a consistent interface throughout the entire contents of the site. Most site templates these days are supported by Cascading Style Sheets (CSS) technology. CSS enable us to easily format and style all the pages of a website at one time using a common style file that is stored using the extension .css. Some other templates uses a flash template which written in Flash and the file is stored .fla, flash files can only be opened with Flash MX software.

We at web site design and support uses state of the art templates to support our customers, the hardest step in our process to come up with a template that satisfy customer’s taste and requirements. We use CSS Template, Static website templates, flash templates and other products that are ready to be customized and used as a basis for fast and high-quality website. I have yet to deploy a template as is, most of time once we complete the design and deploy the site is unique like the businesses we support.
